In the city of Los Temblores, quakes are not just a possible threat, but a frequent hazard -- growing increasingly violent by the day.
Separated from his parents as an infant, twelve-year-old Ziggy Steadman is a rich and famous child prodigy, with a plan to give every citizen of Los Temblores a protective, indestructible suit, shaped like a bubble.
Standing in Ziggy’s way is Kevin Krater -- a diabolical man, bitterly jealous of Ziggy’s fame and fortune. After Krater succeeds in making Ziggy’s Bubble Suit idea appear lame and childish, the public chooses to adopt Krater’s teleportation device called the Quake Escape.
Unfortunately, unknown to the citizens of Los Temblores, the Quake Escape has a dark secret -- and is more of a threat to humanity than a solution to the quake problem. Krater seems not to care about the dangers, so long as profits rise. Worse still, Ziggy has reason to believe Krater is driving demand for his product by causing the quakes!
With the help of his long lost mother, Ziggy works to save Los Temblores and undo the damage Krater’s horrific invention has done to his ailing father. But will there be enough time to perfect and deliver his Bubble Suits before “The Big One” destroys the city?
